### What Hourline does

- City scenes. Each city has an illustrated scene with its landmarks. Its sky follows the city's real time: the sun crosses at its real height from sunrise to sunset, the moon and stars come out at night, and rain, snow, fog or storms appear when the city has them.
- Wallpapers. Make any city your Home Screen or Lock Screen wallpaper, adjust its position and zoom, add stickers or stand yourself in the scene from a photo, and let a Shortcuts automation refresh it through the day.
- Widgets. Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets for city times, weather, the sky and your day, plus Live Activities on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, and complications and Smart Stack on Apple Watch.
- World clock. Saved cities with their local times, dates, weather and daylight in one list, a time ruler you can drag ahead, and a day-and-night world map.

Saved cities and settings stay on your device, are shared with your paired Apple Watch, and sync through your own iCloud only if you turn on iCloud Sync. Location is used only when you choose My Location. Calendar events are read on your device. Hourline sends limited usage and diagnostic reports to PostHog and purchase information to RevenueCat, without your coordinates, calendar or reminder contents. Weather comes from Apple's WeatherKit.

Hourline keeps your cities' times, dates, weather and daylight in one list, lets you drag the hour forward to see everyone's time, and turns the time you choose into a calendar event in that city's time zone.

### What the world clock does

- Saved cities. Permanently unlock 6 places for free from the whole catalog, including Toronto, and save up to 6 cities. Pro unlocks more places and removes the saved-city limit. Each city shows its local time, date, offset from you, weather, sunrise and sunset.
- A time ruler. Drag the hours to look ahead or back; every city's time and date moves with it, and a midnight crossing shows as the next or previous day.
- Working hours and your calendar. Compare working hours while you plan, and opt in to see your own calendar events on the ruler (read on your device).
- The world map. A day-and-night map from the sun's actual position, with the red hour line you can follow across it.
- Daylight saving. Every city uses the system's time-zone rules for the date you are looking at, so differences that change for a week in spring and autumn are shown correctly.
- A city's day. Open any city's day from the clock's calendar; with Pro, see its public holidays and stock market hours.
- Glanceable. Widgets for one, two or three cities, Live Activities with up to three cities on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, and saved cities on Apple Watch.
- City alarms. With Pro on iOS 26 or later, set an alarm in a city's local time and choose the weekdays it repeats.

### How to plan a meeting across time zones

- Open World Time and choose the city whose time sets the meeting.
- Pick the date and start time. Every saved city shows its local time and date for that moment.
- Check the whole plan: set the duration, a repeat schedule and a reminder; a midnight crossing appears as the next local date.
- With Hourline Pro, add the event to the calendar you choose, in that city's time zone, so it stays right for everyone.

### Example: the week the clocks disagree

The UK and the US change their clocks on different dates. In 2026, London returns to GMT on 25 October, but New York stays on daylight time until 1 November. For that week a 15:00 London call is at 11:00 in New York, not the usual 10:00, and Tokyo, which has no daylight saving, is 9 hours ahead of London instead of 8. Hourline shows each city's time for the date of the meeting, so the plan is right on either side of the change.

### Hourline and the built-in Clock app

Apple's Clock app shows the current time in the cities you add, and it is free on every iPhone. Hourline is for when you also need to look ahead or keep the place in view:

Choose an illustrated city and make it your Home Screen or Lock Screen wallpaper. Its sky follows the city's time of day — dawn, daylight, sunset and night — and, with Pro, its weather and forecast.

### Make a city wallpaper

- In Hourline, open Settings → City Wallpaper and choose the city.
- Choose Scenery only (free) or Weather information (Pro), which adds the city's current and hourly weather, a weather brief, and today's events or reminders if you want them.
- Tap Edit Wallpaper to adjust the picture's position and zoom with a live preview. Add stickers, or choose a photo and the person in it stands in the city's scene, lit by its hour and weather.
- Save it to Photos and choose it as your wallpaper, or let Shortcuts set it for you, as below.

### Let it change through the day

iOS lets only you and Shortcuts change your wallpaper, so Hourline gives Shortcuts a Generate City Wallpaper action that returns the wallpaper as it looks right now. Connect it to Shortcuts' Set Wallpaper Photo action and run it from a personal automation, and the city's sky moves from dawn to night on your screen. Hourline offers a ready-made shortcut in Settings → City Wallpaper; you choose which wallpaper it updates and turn the automation on.

Automation needs your own Shortcuts setup. Scenery wallpapers are free; weather information in the wallpaper needs Hourline Pro.

Yes. Hourline has Lock Screen widgets on iPhone and iPad, and Live Activities that show up to three cities on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

**Which Hourline widgets need Pro?**
Postcard, Landmark, Illustration, City Status, Window, Departures and other premium widgets need Pro, as do the illustrated versions of Now & Next, Year of Light, Moon Month, Reminders Across Time and Two-City Calendar, and adding a Widget Studio design. Many other widgets are free.


# Ways to use Hourline: calls, travel and city screens

The city can be a person you miss, a client you work with, or somewhere you are going next. Here are six ways to keep it close in Hourline.

## Family and partners abroad: When is a good time to call?
Save your city and theirs in World Time, then drag the hour ruler to compare both local dates. Keep their city in a clock widget or a Live Activity so the next glance answers “is it night there?”
Toronto and Beijing: on 26 October 2026, 08:00 in Toronto is 20:00 in Beijing. On 2 November it is 21:00, after Toronto changes its clocks. Choose the date before choosing the hour.
Time comparison and Live Activities are free. Permanently unlock 6 places from the whole catalog, including Toronto, and save up to 6 cities.

## Remote work and overseas clients: A meeting that works in every city.
Choose the meeting date and a reference city, compare working hours and check the local date for everyone. With Pro, set the duration, repeat schedule and reminder, then add it to your calendar in that city’s time zone.
London and New York change clocks on different weekends. On 26 October 2026 a 15:00 London call is 11:00 in New York; on 2 November it is 10:00.
Comparing times is free; saving the planned event to a calendar needs Pro. This is personal planning, with no shared booking links.

## Travel and a city back home: Take home along for the trip.
Keep your home city beside your destination. Check the local time, date, sunrise and sunset before a call home, then open the destination’s weather before heading out. A city wallpaper keeps the place on your screen.
The My Location option can add where you are even outside the illustrated city catalog. Choose a landmark city for an illustrated scene.
The selected city’s weather and scenery wallpapers are free. Every city’s weather and detailed forecasts need Pro.

## Apple Watch and a quick glance: Their city, on your wrist.
Open your saved cities on Apple Watch, or add a complication or a Smart Stack widget. Turn the Digital Crown to move a city’s sky through the day.
A useful glance before calling a friend abroad, or while keeping track of home on a trip. Complications sit within an Apple Watch face; they are not a separate watch-face platform.
The Watch app, complications and Smart Stack widgets are included. Weather details need Pro; watchOS 11 or later is required.

## Home Screen and Lock Screen design: A screen with a place in it.
Choose an illustrated city for your wallpaper, adjust its framing, and pair it with clock widgets. Use a Shortcuts automation to refresh the wallpaper through the day.
A Paris evening, a snowy Tokyo or a city you call home: choose a place rather than a generic background. Clear and tinted Home Screens give the widgets another setting.
Scenery wallpapers and standard clock widgets are free. Wallpaper weather and premium illustration widgets need Pro. Automatic wallpaper updates require your Shortcuts setup.

## Daylight and a city postcard: Follow the light. Share the place.
Check sunrise and sunset in a city, and scrub the clock’s hour line to explore its illustrated day and night. Share the city as a postcard or story, with your photo where the landmark would be.
Use the scene to enjoy a place or send someone a city moment. It is an illustration, not a live webcam or a prediction of light at a particular shooting location.
City time and sunrise/sunset are available without Pro. Weather and some custom designs depend on the feature and plan.

New York, from a compact outer screen to a wider skyline. A look at Hourline on Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo.
The outer screen keeps the clock, city and controls close. Open the display and the time takes the left of the page, with the skyline stretching into the space beside it. The picture is still the same city, under the same sky.
